Svetlana is a children’s book illustrator based in a small town on the Aegean coast of Turkey, where she lives with her husband and their fluffy cat. In her work, she focuses first on storytelling, exploring every possible visual way to bring a narrative to life. She is especially passionate about illustrating underwater worlds - having drawn so many mermaids that she’s begun to believe they might be real - and creating imaginative realities of all kinds. Svetlana also likes incorporating dramatic lighting and shadows into her illustrations, while experimenting with a variety of textures and shapes. 

In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, going mountain skiing, reading a good book, and walking along the seaside. And of course, she’s quite certain that mermaids are following her path.
